Vernee is deeply passionate about supporting Black women and other women of color who are navigating the complexities of racial trauma, identity struggles, and the intersections of race, gender, sexuality and culture. She is committed to providing a space where clients can feel seen, heard, and empowered. Her work centers on acknowledging and validating the pain that comes with racial injustice, while also celebrating the strength, resilience, and beauty inherent in our identities. She believes in the importance of unpacking the layers of intersectionality—how race, gender, class, and other aspects of our identities shape our experiences and mental health. She aims to help clients reclaim their power, embrace their authentic selves, and heal from the trauma that can often feel too heavy to carry alone.

Childhood Trauma (including neglect, physical abuse and sexual abuse), adult survivors of childhood trauma and children of narcissists. Due to her own history of childhood sexual abuse, Ms. Brooks is passionate about helping other survivors of CSA.

Her expertise in trauma-informed treatments has allowed her to work in various settings: Mental Hospitals, Group settings, Inpatient and Outpatient facilities and in home. She helps people identify, process, and grow through their past traumas and uncover who they were meant to be.

Experience working with parents individually & parent couples for neurodivergent children (specifically ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectually Disabled and Down Syndrome) and children with high needs (those that require significant physical and/or emotional support). She has also worked with co-parents (for divorced/blended families), parent groups and parent-child dyads. Ms. Brooks has experience providing treatment within the hospital, group homes and going directly into family homes.

Vernee helps support couples navigating parenting concerns, communication issues, childhood trauma and/or attachment issues and BIPOC concerns. Vernee also enjoys incorporating faith & spirituality in her couples work as well. She also has experience supporting blending families.

I enjoy working with young adults navigating questions related to identity, belonging, and self-discovery. I have experience supporting individuals facing race-related stress, cultural identity concerns, LGBTQ+ experiences, and the challenges that can arise when balancing personal values, family expectations, and societal pressures. My goal is to create an affirming, culturally responsive space where clients can explore their identities with greater confidence, authenticity, and self-acceptance.

Also experience with DBT for young adults with borderline personality disorder, suicidality, self-harming & emotion regulation issues. 

Ms. Brooks has experience treating adolescents and young adults with developmental or social disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Mood Disorder believed to adjust to Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in adulthood.
